This post is not directed at anyone in particular, I am sorely tempted to name names, but better judgement tells me different. What prompts a person to reply to a for sale ad when he/she has absolutely no intentions of buying the item.. I have several ads currently running in the Classifieds, some items have very affordable prices, and some items are very expensive. I've had the usual scammers respond to the ads, but I can "smell" a scam so I don't respond to those.

But I've had a few replies from people that want more pictures, usually of certain areas of the item not normally exposed in a picture. As you know, only one picture is allowed with an ad. So the item must be "posed" for the additional pictures, downloaded from the camera to the computer and then attached to an email. All this takes time to do properly. Invariably, the person disappears, never to be heard from again, totally wasting the seller's time.

These types are the ones who go to the shoe department of a clothing store and browse the shoe displays. The sales clerk comes up and offers to help. The customer points to a displayed item and tells the clerk he/she would like to see a brown one, a black one, and sizes 10 and 10 1/2. The clerk scurries off and comes back later with a stack of 4 shoe boxes, looks around and the customer is nowhere to be seen.. A total waste of the clerk's time..

People, if you have no intentions other than to waste time, go somewhere else.. If, after viewing the additional pictures and you decide to not make the purchase, at least have enough courtesy and common sense to respond to the seller.. Don't just "walk away" silently.

Thanks for letting me vent about this.
