I traded mics with a fellow ham on here. The mic I recieved looked like new and was packaged great but when I hooked it up it didnt work. I told the guy not to worry about it because I figured it would be an easy fix. I was wrong. I checked it out as best I could then took it to a local, reputable ham friend of mine that runs a repair shop. He said he cleaned the contacts and it worked. I brought it home and it worked for 30 min, now it is out again. It is an Astatic Silver Eagle. It keys the radio but I get no audio out of it. I have checked the battery and replaced the head with a known good one.
Should I of just asked the other guy to swap back after I hooked it up and it didn't work? I feel he would have, or should I just of sent it off to be repaired?
Just wondering what my fellow ''horse traders'' think.
