WA4KCN imposter from Bulgaria

Post by N8VZ »

WARNING: I was almost successfully scammed by a person with an IP address in Romania. He sent me several very nice photos of a NC-57 receiver in answer to my WTB ad, including a nice photo of the inside of receiver with the lid up, not just a photo ripped off the internet. My first clue that he was a scammer was that his English was not very good, and when I looked at the real WA4KCN's page on QRZ.com (which of course had no email address) he used very good English syntax and grammar in his biography. Then I did the IP address search (a wonderful feature of qth.com classifieds) and up pops a map of Romania and Bulgaria, somewhere near the border. Opps . . . Now, as recommended by Scott, KA9FOX, I'm playing with him a little bit, hoping to waste more his time, but he's not getting any of my money. If anyone readying this knows Russell I Turpin, WA4KCN, please inform him that someone is pretending to be him. If not, I'll send him a letter via postal mail informing him of the issue. -- 73 de Carl N8VZ
